One live printing press does up to 60 shirts an hour. Our standard station runs two presses with two printers, so it clears 100+ an hour once the line is steady. Each guest waits about two minutes from picking a size to wearing it.
Those numbers come from the press and the operator, so they don't change from Irvine to Huntington Beach. What changes is how guests arrive at the table, and that's what decides whether you need a second press.
What affects live printing throughput in OC
- How the crowd arrives. A convention aisle in Anaheim feeds the station all day. A seated dinner in Newport sends people up in waves between courses.
- The art. One-color art on the screen press is fastest. Full-color DTF and names on the back take a little longer per piece.
- The garment mix. Tees are quick. Hoodies, caps and swapping styles mid-line slow it down.
- The line itself. Someone from our crew runs sizes and choices at the front, so the printers never wait on a decision.
A rough way to size it: if more people will walk past in an hour than one press can serve, add the second press. A fairgrounds gate in summer or an expo floor usually needs both; a company picnic in an Irvine park often doesn't.
What sets the pace of live t-shirt printing at an Orange County event
The line only moves as fast as the slowest decision, so we put the design board and a size wall where people queue. At an Anaheim Convention Center expo that's the aisle edge; on a Costa Mesa brewery patio it usually ends up next to the bar. Figure about two minutes a guest and 100+ an hour from two presses, which puts a 250-person company party in Irvine at roughly two and a half hours on one station. If the party only gives you an hour of open printing, book the second press. Caps go to the hat bar in Orange County and stitched pieces to the live embroidery table, each in its own lane, so neither holds up the shirt line. Scaling up is easier here than anywhere we fly to. Our gear is staged in Fullerton, so adding a press for live printing in Orange County comes down to a free crew and blanks in stock, not freight.
